Proud to Serve National City**Mayor Ron Morrison** Ron is a lifelong resident of National City and its immediate vicinity. Growing up in National City, San Diego County’s second oldest city, gave Ron a sense of a close knit community, rich with history and diverse culture. Ron has always cared deeply about National City and has been actively involved in community service and political action. Before being elected to the City Council, he fought for residential property rights, led political campaigns against outside interests, and battled City Hall regularly. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, Ron was referred to by the Los Angeles Times as ‘National City’s community activist’, and by the San Diego Union as ‘National City’s Sixth Councilman’. Rolling up his sleeves, pitching in, and leading by example has always been a part of Ron’s character, whether it is working on complex governmental issues, organizing a neighborhood, cleaning up an alley or hauling trash for seniors. Ron decided to not just throw stones at City Hall, but to work from the inside to give citizens a voice and an opportunity for positive change from within city government. Ron was elected to the City Council in 1992 and was re-elected three times before being elected Mayor in 2006 and re-elected twice more before becoming the 1st elected official in National City’s history to be termed out. Ron continued to serve by being elected as a Councilmember, and then after one term as Councilmember, he ran for Mayor and was once again was elected as Mayor. Serving in his thirty first year as an elected National City official Ron has provided leadership in key positions at not only at the local level, but also regionally, state, and nationally. Some of the positions that Ron has served on are:

The citizen turned Councilman turned Mayor turned Councilman and then Mayor again is driven to make National City a better place because of his strong roots, dedication and commitment to the people of National City.
