San Diego Community Power (SDCP) is a local provider of electricity that will serve your community by bringing you cleaner energy at competitive rates. We put our communities first, helping you take a giant step toward a more sustainable energy future. We are a locally managed, not-for-profit, public agency that focuses on what families need and want most when it comes to their energy.

San Diego Community Power currently serves customers in the cities of San Diego, Chula Vista, Encinitas, La Mesa and Imperial Beach – and will be enrolling customers in National City and the unincorporated areas of the County in April 2023.

San Diego Community Power is a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA). Transparent and locally controlled, CCAs make energy markets less risky and protect taxpayers by providing options to customers. CCAs are succeeding all over the state with 23 programs already providing reliable, affordable and clean energy to local customers and delivering innovative reinvestment programs that benefit local needs and state Climate Action Goals.

San Diego Community Power works by replacing SDG&E’s generation service. As seen in the graphic below, SDCP purchases renewable energy on behalf of our customers, the power is transmitted and delivered through SDG&E infrastructure, and, ultimately the customer receives cleaner more renewable power:

Currently, SDCP offers two levels of service to our customers. PowerOn, our standard service offering which provides a minimum of 50% renewable power and is competitively priced to SDG&E, and Power100, our premium service that provides customers with 100% renewable and carbon free energy. For the average residential customer, opting up to Power100 would only cost an additional $3 to $5 a month and is a great way to reduce one’s overall carbon footprint.
