Effective March 7, 2023, Mrs. Chapel was the first appointed City Clerk in National City's history.  The City Clerk position was always an elected position.  November 8, 2022 Election, the voters passed Measure M making the City Clerk position appointed by City Manager.

Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
City Offices are Closed every Friday

Department Overview

Day-to-day operations of the City Clerk's Office are directed by the City Clerk.  The City Clerk's Office is Custodian of vital City records, attends and acts as key staff for City Council meetings. Serves as a neutral liaison between residents and government by ensuring transparent processes with professionalism, integrity and accountability.
