Parking Citations

Parking citations must be contested or paid within 21 calendar days of issuance. Failure to pay the fine within the allotted 21 days will result in additional penalties and/or DMV delay of your vehicle registration until penalties are paid. Unregistered vehicles or vehicles or vehicles with over five outstanding parking citations may be impounded, per 22651(I)(1)CVC. All fines are the responsibility of the registered vehicle owner.

The City of National City contracts Citation Processing Center for parking enforcement administration within the City.

Be sure to enclose the citation with your check or money order payable to: "City of National City".

Please DO NOT SEND CASH.
Note, a service charge will be assessed for checks not honored by your bank.

 

In Person

Payments can also be made in person to the City of National City Finance Department. (*Address listed above.) City office hours are, Monday thru Thursday from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Closed weekends and holidays.

A fast, easy and safe way to pay at: Citation Processing Center. Simply type in your citation number, your license plate number or your VIN number, and follow the steps.

Low-Income Payment Plan OptionCVC 40220 allows for installment payments to qualifying low-income individuals who apply within 120 days from the issuance of a notice of parking violation, or within 10 days after an administrative hearing determination, whichever is later. Contest Citation:

A vehicle owner/operator who believes that a citation has been issued in error may appeal this citation by requesting an Administrative Review within 21 calendar days from the citation issue date. Appeal online at Citation Processing Center or submit a written statement (with any supporting documentation and/or photographs) to:

Sign-offs/Correctable Violations:

There are a few correctable violations that will allow you to have an officer verify the correction and reduce the original fine to a $10 correction fee within the 21-days period (beginning on the issuance date). The corrections include:

• Missing Expired Tabs
• Registration Renewal
• Plate Cover
• Handicap Placard Verification ($25 correction fee)

To have your citation signed-off you can go to any Police Department or any police unit on patrol. Note that the Police Department will charge a $10 service fee to have an officer sign off your ticket but you must also make the correction fee at appropriate location.

NCPD sign-off hours are Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Neighborhood Services Division at City Hall (1243 National City Boulevard) will have an officer sign off your citation as a courtesy (no service charge) and you will only need to pay the $10 correction fee at the Finance Department (located behind City Hall), or mail it the Citation Processing Center (within the 21-days period)
