Attention all National City Property Owners: New Sign Ordinance!

The City has recently enacted a new sign ordinance designed to boost the visibility of business from the street by clearing away signage clutter and creating attractive storefronts and streets. Our aim is simple, to keep National City clean, safe, livable and looking great for the enjoyment of everyone. Through our new Together We Can campaign we will be working with the business community to beautify storefronts and clean up signage clutter. The first step in this campaign will be to update all signage currently out of compliance. A grace period to get your business into compliance began March 1st 2017.

We know the key to success in this program will be full community participation. Property owners can participate in the program by:

  1. Ensuring all building signage is up to code.
  2. Removing/updating all signage that is out of compliance.
  3. Communicating new signage requirements with building tenants.
  4. Contacting the local Chamber of Commerce for assistance in financing and designing new signage.
Over the next three months the City will be educating the business community and property owners in the area on how they can comply. Visit our website for more Information on allowable signage types.

NCPD: A Message from the Chief

Dear National City Community Members, Business Leaders and Friends:

The National discussion on immigration has created apprehension throughout the country and in our National City community. As a result, I am taking this opportunity to reassure all of our residents that the National City Police Department will continue to concentrate on crime. Click for Entire Message.
