Bike to Work Day is a nationally recognized, annual event celebrated the third Friday in May. Last year, more than 8,400 people in the San Diego region signed up for Bike to Work Day and logged more than 216,000 bicycle commute miles throughout the month of May. The SANDAG iCommute program wants to help you promote, prepare, and participate in Bike to Work 2014.
· it’s easy. With the support of the iCommute program and partners, you’ll receive the tools you need to encourage participation, including web ads, newsletter copy, social media posts, and more. Plus, you can customize your involvement to best suit your preferences.
· it’s fun. Show your community spirit by engaging with bike riders in your area.
· it’s good for the community. Bike to Work supports bicycling as a viable, environmentally friendly, cost saving commute choice.
Get started by downloading the Bike to Work eToolkit materials, which includes:
· Email template: Use the header and footer to send Bike to Work dedicated emails, or add the graphics to your pre-existing email template.
· Web ads: Use the banner or box ads to display the event on your website. Standard sizes are provided but customization is available.
· Facebook cover photo: Gear up for Bike to Work Day and upload the cover photo to your Facebook page to help promote the event to your followers.
· Social media posts: Use, or customize, the posts to promote Bike to Work through your Facebook and/or Twitter channels.
· Bike to Work article: The article can be posted to your website and/or included in an upcoming newsletter to help spread the word.
