Come and join Sweetwater High School and National City to celebrate the next chapter in their history! A new Field turf and All-weather track have been installed and it is ready to welcome a new generation of athletes. As Sweetwater High School enters its 93rd school year, the past dramatically meets the future in Gail Devers Stadium.
All Alumni of Sweetwater High School are encouraged to come "home" on Friday, October 11th, and be a part of this historic evening. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 PM along with a celebration of past CIF champions, including SUHI’s very own Dan Saleaumua.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Sweetwater High School Football team, under new Head Coach Brian Hay, will take the field for their first official home game on our new field against Hilltop High School.
Gates open at 3pm with music and food sales for early parking and seating. Ceremony begins at 5pm. Kick-off is at 7 PM. Tickets for the evening include the ceremony and football game, $6 adults; $4 ages 6-12, 60 and over, and students with a school ID card; children 5 and under are free.
Alumni athletes in Football, Girl’s and Boy’s Soccer, and Girl’s and Boy’s Track and Field are invited to ring the field during the pre-game festivities. Sweetwater Alumni interested in participating in the ringing of the field for our opening ceremony, please email Mrs. Georgia Wapnowski, suhialumni@outlook.com. Roll call for participants will begin at 4:30pm.
Don’t miss out on this historic event!
