Bridge improvements are part of the first phase of the I-805 South Project, a $1.4 billion
effort to create a modern new transportation backbone for the South County. Construction on
the first phase of the project began in June. Work includes building one carpool lane in each
direction along an eight-mile segment of the freeway stretching from East Palomar Street in
Chula Vista to SR 94 in San Diego. The carpool lanes are scheduled to open in fall 2013.
Construction crews will work to minimize impacts to nearby businesses, residents and
commuters. We appreciate your patience during construction.
