PUBLIC NOTICE:
The City of National City, as the Lead Agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), has determined that the project described below will require the preparation of a Supplemental Program Environmental Impact Report (SPEIR) in compliance with CEQA. A Notice of Preparation (NOP) of a SPEIR and Scoping Meeting for the Focused General Plan Update (FGPU) project was publicly noticed and distributed on March 19, 2022.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
To address changes in State legislation, a changing regional context, and forecasted future growth, National City is conducting the Focused General Plan Update. The Focused General Plan Update will include updates to policies, supporting updates to codes, ordinances, and development standards, and will guide development through 2050. Policy updates will be reflected in the Land Use Element, Transportation Element, Safety Element, and Climate Action Plan, last updated in 2011, and portions of the Municipal Code.
SCOPING PERIOD:
During this period, the NOP will be available for review or purchase at the cost of reproduction at the City of National City Planning Division by appointment between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at the City’s website: https://www.nationalcityca.gov/community/focused-general-plan-update.
Pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15082, responsible and trustee agencies and other interested parties, including members of the public, must submit any comments regarding the proposed SPEIR’s scope and alternatives no later than 6:00 p.m. on April 18, 2022, to the following: Martin Reeder – AICP, Principal Planner, Planning Division, 1243 National City Boulevard, National City, CA 91950.
