The Port of San Diego invites the public to enjoy Picnic in the Park, a free arts and community engagement event on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Pepper Park in National City from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is being provided as a Port of San Diego experience for the entertainment of the community.
This exciting family-friendly waterfront activation event will feature creative artistic performances by Fern Street Circus, including jugglers, aerialists, acrobats, and musicians. Choral group, SACRA/PROFANA, will provide a series of live performances. There will also be interactive workshops on hooping and tightwire, along with photo booths, free refreshments, and giveaways. This event will also serve as an opportunity for the public to learn about community-based initiatives by the Port of San Diego and the City of National City.
Picnic in the Park is part of the Port’s mission to create a vibrant waterfront with innovative public art, cultural programming, special events, and recreation opportunities that enhance the aesthetic and cultural richness of the Port tidelands. With a permanent collection of more than 70 artworks, along with approximately 30 tenant-commissioned artworks and a dynamic curatorial plan focused on contemporary public art exhibitions, there is an artistic experience for everyone around San Diego Bay.
